Why Do We Rescue Food?
Why do we rescue food? Why do we go to a farm to harvest unwanted produce to donate to food banks, or do farmers market rescues, or harvest excess fruit from backyard trees to donate to food pantries?
Toss the Salad? No Way!
Transition Sarasota now has a partnership with Worden Farm to glean excess produce at the Sarasota Farmers Market. Worden Farm donates things like lettuce and greens that won’t survive the trip back to Punta Gorda, as well as excess produce, to help feed people in our community who are food insecure.

Transition Sarasota to the Rescue!
First, my heartfelt thanks to all who contributed their fruit picked before Hurricane Ian. We partnered with a food pantry that All Faith's was working with for emergency water and food distribution and we donated 385 pounds of avocados and 12 pounds of bananas for those in need.
